I believe that EVERY child is guaranteed and entitled to a free, high-quality public education.

I’m Mary Beth Murphy, a candidate for the Westminster Public Schools Board of Education.  I'm a wife, mother and small business owner. I’ve been a Westminster resident for 34 years; our children attended Westminster Public Schools.

My work experience is in education.  I've been a teacher for 35 years, the last 32 years in Mapleton Public Schools.

I understand the importance of retaining our terrific teachers and ensuring that they and our students are safe and secure.  Trust me to fight for and enhance WPS programs that do just that.

I understand the important role teachers play in student success.  Teachers care.  They listen.  They foster self-esteem.

That's why I am a strong supporter of the renovation of Ranum Middle School to create a Career Technical Education program.  It will provide our high school students the opportunity to learn valuable skills and succeed in technology-driven careers.  Our Colorado industries and businesses need skilled workers.

Trust me to support programs that offer our students numerous educational opportunities.  As an educator, I know that there is not one pathway that is appropriate for all students.

Teaching is a most rewarding career.  It's more than just reading, writing, and arithmetic.  As a member of the WPS Board of Education, trust me to fight to provide our students with a guaranteed, free, high-quality education and an environment that encourages them to reach for their dreams.  Our students are the future.
